“ I love the uncomplicated honesty of the pictures, in the way they wrestle with a childhood that is definitively in the past but very much still alive. They are by turns sad, wry, mesmerised, blank and expectant photographs I think, and in the way that they evoke play in some kind of a naked state - invisible in its detail but so familiar in all its textures - they offer always some sense of firm hope.”
