A selection from the lyrical photographs of New Mexico by Alexandra Matzke. I’m particularly drawn by the extent to which these photos have a certain formal lineage, an insistence on using light to complement the psychological quality in their subjects. I think that collectively the images ponder multiple conceptions of time and memory, both of which are inherently well-suited subjects for the photographic image.
